I would just like to throw this your way. Everyone is going to great lengths to promote twitter but I do believe it will not be as big as facebook. You mentioned that facebook complicated itself by adding these applications and games but you fail to mention that a lot of people are very hooked on these games and stuff, also yes a lot of people switched from MySpace to facebook but why would they throw away their progress on facebook to go to twitter when in fact it doesn’t have as much things to do? They would get bored very easy
You're right that people become addicted to things easily and that's why Facebook is more addictive than any other social networking site. People would never abandon Facebook for Twitter, but rather, keep their Facebook and use Twitter as a promotional tool. Therefore, they wouldn't throw away their progress
